Status update: After I arrived at the hotel I went together with my father for a drink in the hotel bar to make up a plan for the evening. We decided to go to Orchard street, the biggest shop street and most famous street of Singapore.
The street was decorated with all kind of Christmas decorations that were quite over the top but that actually fitted there very well. The shops alongside the street are all very luxurious and large Prada- and Chanel-stores can be found everywhere. The street was barricade for cars and there well all kinds of activities organised on it. Also free beverages were given away for free with the message 'merry Christmas'! I thought this was quite strange as it is only the 5th of December, sinterklaas avond on the Netherlands. However, it was fun and cozy. We went for dinner at a food-court which is a hall with all sorts of little stands selling different kinds of food from different countries.
Later at night we went for a drink and I had, as suggested by some locals, a coconut. It is very common here to drink the milk of a young coconut and afterwards eat its meat.
It was a great day with a lot of first impressions.
